Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Empire Wireless Mobile ("we", "us") is a device repair and sales shop at 876 Danforth Ave, Toronto, Ontario. We handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

2. What we collect

• Contact details — your name, phone number and email address.
• Device details — make, model, colour, IMEI or serial number, the problem you describe, and our repair notes.
• Your passcode, only if you choose to give it to us so we can test the repair. It is erased from our system when your repair is completed.
• Repair and purchase records — tickets, invoices, warranty dates, payment method and amounts. We do not store full credit or debit card numbers: in-store card payments are processed by the payment terminal, and online payments by Stripe.
• Online bookings — the name, contact details, device, issue and appointment time you enter on our website.
• Website usage — pages visited and general device and browser information, collected through Google Analytics using cookies.
• Identification, in some cases when you sell us a device, to help prevent the sale of stolen property.

3. How we use it

• To diagnose, repair and test your device, and to process sales
• To contact you about your repair — for example, when it's ready — by text message, email or phone
• To send receipts and handle warranty claims
• To confirm and manage online bookings
• To keep business records required by law, including for tax purposes
• To help prevent fraud and the handling of stolen devices
• To understand how our website is used and improve it

4. We never sell your information

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone.

5. Who we share it with

We share information only with trusted service providers that help us run our business, and only as needed for them to provide their service:

• Hostinger — hosts our website and our repair and sales records
• Twilio — sends our text messages
• Resend — sends our emails and booking confirmations
• Google — website analytics (Google Analytics), maps, and secure backups of our records (Google Drive)
• Stripe — processes online payments
• Cloudflare — protects and speeds up our website

Some of these providers may store information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country. We may also disclose information when required by law, for example in response to a court order or a valid police request.

6. The content on your device

We only access your device as far as needed to diagnose and test the repair. We do not browse, copy, share or keep your photos, messages, files or accounts. Please back up your device before any repair — see our Terms & Conditions.

7. Text messages and emails

Messages about your repair, booking or purchase — such as "your device is ready" — are service messages related to the work you asked us to do. We will only send promotional messages if you have agreed to receive them, and you can opt out at any time by replying STOP to a text or contacting us.

8. How long we keep it

We keep repair and sales records for as long as needed for warranty service and as required by law — generally six years for tax records in Canada. Passcodes are erased when your repair is completed. Our automatic backups are kept for 30 days. When information is no longer needed, we delete it.

9. How we protect it

Our systems are password- and PIN-protected, use encrypted connections, limit access to staff who need it, and are backed up securely. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

10. Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies for Google Analytics, which helps us understand how visitors use the site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. Our repair tracker shows only a device and its repair status — never names, phone numbers or prices.

11. Your rights

You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it (except records we must keep by law), and you can withdraw your consent to optional uses at any time. Contact us using the details below. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version is always on this page, with the date it took effect.
